Cheerleading 2024
Age/Eligibility: Youth ages 7-14 (1st-8th grade) are eligible to participate in the Youth Cheer program, with the exception of those who have graduated from 8th grade or turn 15 by September 1st of the current year.
Cheer squads will practice 2 times per week for approximately 2 hours. They will perform sideline cheers and a half time routine for home Youth Football games.
There are no tryouts for the Cheer squad and no experience needed. Our trained and certified coaches will teach your child the fundamentals of Cheer.
Cheer is a team sport. However, unlike other team sports, if one team member is not at a game or practice, the entire group will suffer. Every cheerleader is an important and integral member of the team and is expected to be committed and respectful to their coaches and teammates. Cheerleaders are expected to attend all practices and assigned games.
Football Games: Cheer squads will cheer for the OPRF Youth Football teams. Squads will cheer for all home games and select post season games. Home games are typically played on Sundays at the OPRF High School Stadium. Squads will cheer in all weather. The game schedule will be posted by our host league, BGYFL, at the end of August.
Payment plans and scholarships are available. Email John Kolozak at jkolozak@yahoo.com for information on scholarship application and eligibility.
Registrants must attend the mandatory uniform try-on/sizing day(s). Details to follow upon registration. Failure to attend will result in a delay in production of your child’s uniform.
Refund Policy: Refunds are 100% (if paid in full) before uniforms are ordered. Refunds are 50% after uniforms have been ordered. No refunds after the first game.
Coaching Opportunities: Oak Park Youth Football and Cheer is a volunteer-based organization. Any interested in coaching or assisting with the squad should contact info@oakparkyouthfootball.org. All coaches must be certified and background checked. You do not need to have a child in the program-all you need is enthusiasm, patience and willingness to create a positive and confidence-building experience for our participants!
